ABOUT ME

I live in Yorkshire and am married with three children.

Broadcasting in one shape or other has been my life since I first began in Hospital Radio and then University Radio.

I like almost all sports and for a number of years have been helped coach my local village football team. I am a level 1 FA football coach.

BROADCASTING

I worked for the BBC from 1983 until 2012. In that time I ran radio stations as well as presented, produced and reported on current affairs shows. In 1994 I switched to sports broadcasting, commentating on and producing many major set piece outside broadcasts

In 2012 I set up my own company Tanner Creative Ltd and since then have worked for not only the BBC but also Talksport, Signal 2 and, up until they closed it down, Sky Sports News Radio. In 2014 I went back to TV presentation working for Made in Leeds for a year.

TRAINING & HOSTING

I lecture on sports journalism, multi-platform news room and radio broadcasting plus voice coaching at  Leeds Beckett University  and the University of Huddersfield.

I regularly host end of season football awards, annual sports awards and a prestigious charity awards event in Bradford.
